Honoring Mothers on This Special Day
On this beautiful Mother’s Day, we choose to honor the woman who gave birth to us and, in some instances, the woman who raised us, adopted us, or played a special role in our development. The Bible speaks of a mother’s love as a reflection of God’s own steadfast care and compassion.
Proverbs 31:25-28 reminds us: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
Motherhood is a sacred calling, filled with immeasurable love, sacrifices, and unwavering devotion. Just as God tenderly cares for His people, mothers nurture, protect, and guide their children with wisdom and grace.
Ephesians 6:2 reminds us: “Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise.”
So, let’s put her first today. Remember, God doesn’t make mistakes and does nothing without purpose. There is a reason you were born to-and nurtured by-the woman you call Mother. There was something to be gleaned from her-perhaps strength in adversity, the power of unconditional love, or the faith that carried her through life’s trials. God placed her in your life, knowing the role she would play in shaping you.
So, whether through words of wisdom, sacrifice, or fierce unwavering faith, she has left an indelible mark on your journey, one you can transfer to your sons and daughters.
